Oh April, my littlest love…
Every day with you is an adventure. At three years old, I am consistently surprised by the things you say, and how you seem wise beyond your years. I love how you can find the humor in any situation. You show incredible kindness and generosity, yet you are not afraid to have your voice heard or stand your ground.
I’ve adoringly watched you blossom this year. With each passing day I can more easily see the woman you will someday become, and I couldn’t be more proud.
Love, Mom.
This was our first time celebrating April’s birthday from our new home in the Lehigh Valley, so it was extra special for us. April knew exactly what she wanted. Three months earlier, her big sister had asked for a haircut for her birthday. So, in true little sister fashion, April asked for the same thing. I quickly made her an appointment with our favorite stylist, Katelyn, over at Rooted Salon in Allentown.
What did we do with the rest of the weekend? Well, we decided to change it up this year and do something a little different. We spent the day at The Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley, where April enjoyed a bit of shopping, a cup of hot cocoa, some outdoor games, and her first manicure.
When we got home, we had some cupcakes, checked to see how much April had grown, and played a rousing game of pin the horn on the unicorn.
Natalie asked if we could do all these same things for her birthday too, so I’d call the day a success. It looks like we’ve found some new birthday traditions!
What birthday traditions does your family have? Let me know in the comments! And if you’d like to have any of those traditions documented, get in touch, I’d be happy to help!
